Job Description The Design Coordinator plans and coordinates graphic design and production for university and departmental publications, digital media, and other graphics-oriented materials.
Responsibilities
Meet with clients, planning and creating all aspects of publication design to support client ideas and requests.
Prepare printing specifications for vendor quotes.
Maintain client files for proof changes, specifications or quantity changes for digital or print use.
Produce digital media for web, social media, or email.
Use Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on InDesign and Illustrator; knowledge of printing process.
Report directly to the Assistant Director of Marketing.
Qualifications
High school diploma and two years of full‑time graphic design experience.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign; secondary skills in Photoshop and Illustrator.
File preparation for print production or digital materials for on‑campus or vendor productions.
Strong communication skills via phone, email, or in‑person.
Proofing skills for grammatical rules.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team without direct supervision.
Organization, prioritization, and meeting deadlines.
Portfolio of original work (hard copy and/or digital).
Preferred Qualifications
Three to four years of graphic design or related field with focus on higher education, or five+ years of demonstrated magazine/newspaper layout and design experience.
Commercial printing knowledge and press check procedures.
Understanding of higher education.
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, media design or equivalent.
