The National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos is seeking a
Telecommunications Engineering Technician
to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area – Engineering Services Group located across the United States.
The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the FAA’s Legacy Infrastructure to Future Technologies (LIFT) Portfolio and the goal of converting National Airspace Connectivity from TDM to IP. The scope includes Telecommunications Infrastructure Replacement, Small Tower Voice Switches, Air‑to‑Ground Protocol Converters and NEXCOM Radios.
Job Duties Include:
Review FAA databases and provide input to or draft Site Survey Reports (SSR).
Conduct site surveys to provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports.
Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES, and Verizon personnel.
Draft Project Risk Plans (PRP) and Operational Risk Management Plans (ORMP).
Generate and/or update drawings, sketches, and artifacts.
Draft project plans for site preparation activities.
Coordinate scheduled outages with SSC, Air Traffic, and Operations personnel.
Develop transition plans.
Resolve schedule conflicts.
Accompany unbadged personnel at facilities.
Work with LECs on schedules.
Develop briefings, information, and reports on District status.
Work with other Districts/SSC on interstate service flows, transitions, cutovers, planning, etc.
Support District POC and SSCs with day‑to‑day work activities.
Review and provide comments on Verizon Site Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP).
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree as appropriate.
Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
Desired Qualifications:
2+ years of experience working with telecommunications systems performing network troubleshooting.
Proficient working with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA standards, and National Airspace System equipment towers.
Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.
Knowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG.

Pay Range: $57,850.00 – $104,575.00.
