fast-paced, video-first newsroom , covering everything from breaking showbiz news and celebrity exclusives to consumer, lifestyle, and sports stories that pop across platforms.

Since launching in early 2020,
The U.S. Sun
has smashed all traffic and revenue targets to become one of the fastest-growing digital news sites in the country.
We are now looking for a
freelance entertainment reporter and presenter
to support our ongoing expansion.
This position is based in
New York , though applications from across the U.S. are welcome — remote work is available for exceptional candidates.
The ideal candidate is a
confident on-camera storyteller
who can jump from breaking a news exclusive to filming quick-turn reaction videos, producing explainers, or appearing in short-form content for
TikTok, YouTube, and other social platforms .
You’ll have a deep understanding of the showbiz and TV landscape — from
Teen Mom
to the Kardashians and every star in between — and know how to make it shine in both words and video.
Initial shifts required are
Monday to Friday from 8am EST , with an expectation that these will later include evening and weekend working.
Pay:
$200–$250 per shift, based on experience.
Hours:
Nine-hour shifts with a one-hour break.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and chase stories that will drive traffic and engagement across web and video
Pitch, write, and
present
entertainment stories with flair and accuracy
Film and appear on camera
for breaking news, explainers, and short-form clips
Work with the video, picture, and social teams to create high-impact multimedia content
Produce posts efficiently in WordPress and collaborate on social rollouts
Ensure all content meets legal and editorial standards
Skills & Experience
Strong knowledge of entertainment, reality TV, and celebrity culture
Proven on-camera experience
— comfortable recording, presenting, or conducting video interviews
Excellent, fast writing and self-editing skills
Ability to write and speak in The Sun’s concise, entertaining style
Basic video editing and production skills (Premiere, CapCut, or similar)
Experience with WordPress or other CMS platforms
Familiarity with SEO and social best practices
Calm under pressure and adaptable in a fast-moving newsroom
Ambitious, creative, and eager to help shape a video-first future
