Head Varsity Volleyball Coach – South High School
Position Title: Head Varsity Volleyball Coach – South High School.
Qualifications Must possess a valid NE Teaching Certificate, NE Administrative and Supervisory Certificate, or a NE Special Services Certificate endorsed in coaching. Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in education preferred.
Current or prospective employment as a teacher in the Omaha Public Schools and the identified site preferred.
Individual must meet Nebraska School Activities Association guidelines, including an NE Teaching Certificate and/or Special Services Certificate with endorsement in coaching.
High school coaching experience in volleyball, with prior head coaching experience preferred.
Deep knowledge of the sport and ability to foster positive human relationships with students, staff, parents, and community.
Exhibit high standards of professional ethics and conduct.
Responsibilities The Head Varsity Volleyball Coach leads the athletics program at the school, ensuring activities align with district needs and regulations. The coach works cooperatively with administrators to provide a safe and supportive environment for student participants.
Supervise the athletics program at all competition levels, ensuring safety and well-being of students.
Set high expectations for learning, classroom performance, and academic success, monitoring and supporting student achievement.
Maintain high behavioral expectations, promoting sportsmanship, hospitality, and fair play.
Develop and implement a plan for teaching student behavior with consistent consequences.
Develop and run a cohesive volleyball program that teaches skills and promotes team play through instruction, practice, and competition.
Enforce eligibility criteria and standards set by the school, district, and activity associations.
Assist the Athletic Director and principal in selecting and evaluating staff.
Promote the volleyball program to elementary and middle school students, enhancing skill development.
Support student athletes in pursuing higher education, scholarships, and post-high school athletics.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the public; follow district guidelines, including media communication.
