Position Summary: The Theodorescu Lab within the University of Arizona Comprehensive Cancer Center (UACC) is looking to hire a postdoctoral researcher specializing in cell and molecular biology of cancer and therapeutics/drug discovery development. The research focuses on identifying therapeutic targets in human and murine cancer models and moving promising small molecules or other interventions toward clinical application.

Research Approach: The candidate will use biochemical, molecular biology, CRISPR/Cas9, functional genomic (loss‑of‑function/synthetic lethal), next‑generation sequencing, including single‑cell RNA‑seq, and innovative mouse models developed by the lab to dissect cancer‑specific vulnerabilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Design and perform experiments; keep detailed records, analyze results, and discuss with PI.

Develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols.

Analyze, interpret, summarize, and compile data.

Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period.

Assist in preparation of grant proposals with PI (not responsible for generating grant funds).

Participate in publications and presentations as author or co‑author.

Meet with PI regularly to discuss research progress and plans.

May be asked to write small grant proposals or NRSA/T32 applications.

Spend about 75% time on bench research and 25% on writing, data analysis, and online research.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Work semi‑independently on research projects within area of specialization.

Demonstrated thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research objectives.

Execute experimental protocols and procedures with detailed data collection and analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (PhD, MD, or MD/PhD) in immunology or directly related field.

Up to 3 years of relevant post‑doctoral experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Outstanding publication record from prior graduate/postgraduate training and/or existing extramural funding.
