What To Expect We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead, support and manage our manufacturing training system. This person will build a strong and capable manufacturing training team that supports Production Training, Technical Training, Leadership Training, Content Development, Training Systems & Development, and Technical Writing. The successful candidate is driven, organized, confident, and has a proven track record of achieving training targets and goals. This full-time role requires the flexibility to support manufacturing training activities with ongoing cooperation of the workstation trainers, technicians, management, and other stakeholders.
This role will be based out of the Greater Houston Area (TX) but could require 90% travel to work in the Bay Area (CA) to support early builds and validation support for the first 6 to 12 months. Travel plans and reimbursement will follow Tesla’s Travel Policy and will be governed by the direct manager.
What You’ll Do
Work with the Production and Engineering Management teams, Leads, Technicians, and Workstation Trainers on implementing our training systems
Manage the training staff who will support manufacturing on a large scope including Energy and Vehicle products. Engage and partner with the leadership of these departments
Develop and facilitate training and development, learning initiatives, and training recommendations for specific disciplines
When necessary and applicable, update manufacturing instructions to the latest revisions as approved by engineering / process owners. Be able to lead and manage a technical writing team that will work alongside engineers and other technical writers to document the fine details of manufacturing processes and equipment operation
Work with management to determine training needs and determine subsequent training and development priorities. Develop new hire training program to ensure onboarding success tracking daily and weekly check-ins
Partner with the Quality Systems team to work towards enhancements and development for the training certification system. Lead internal training audits to ensure that training requirements are followed
Participate in the implementation of the Learning Management System (LMS), to track training, assign training, coordinate training and create training reports. Manage Learning enrollments, training completion, and versatility chart administration to ensure accuracy of training records
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Education or related field preferred, with evidence of exceptional ability
Minimum 5 years of experience leading and managing teams, with familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies; leading training experience in manufacturing environment preferred
Demonstrated personal leadership and accountability
Experience in providing on-the-job training, ideally with manufacturing personnel and experience in providing classroom training
Proven ability to be highly organized with strong attention to detail
Understanding in adult learning principles, instructional design or education; experienced in using a Learning Management System (LMS)
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including solid interpersonal skills + proficient in MS Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
