Summary

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available. The Staff Dentist will function as a general dentist – practicing the full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems. The Staff Dentist will complete and submit dental treatment plans to the Dental Service Chief for review and approval.

Base Pay Range $200,000.00/yr - $315,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

The Staff Dentist will function as a general dentist – practicing the full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems.

The Staff Dentist functions under the general direction of the Chief – Dental Service.

The Staff Dentist independently examines, diagnoses, and treats the commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring opinion or intervention in the outpatient and inpatient settings, including emergent evaluations.

Acts as the consultant for patients referred to him/her for input regarding dental concerns or interventions.

Make clinical and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity.

Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions.

Administer local anesthesia.

Perform routine and complex restoration of teeth.

Perform simple and complex extractions of teeth.

Perform alveoloplasty and other routine surgical procedures.

Perform prosthetic dentistry to include immediate dentures, full dentures, partial dentures, crowns, fixed bridge work, and dental implant restoration.

Perform routine endodontic procedures on single and multi‑canal teeth.

Perform routine and surgical periodontal procedures.

Provide direct patient care in a hospital or outpatient setting to adults with or without acute and chronic medical conditions and serve as a consultant to other healthcare providers.

Perform duties within CPRS – completing dental notes within the Electronic Health Care Record – and assisting with processing VA Community Care referrals.

Work schedule: Monday thru Friday – 7:00 am–3:30 pm (subject to change based on agency needs). VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
