Clinical Lab Scientist - Part-time Nights ZSFG Clinical Laboratory – Core Lab (Part Time, 50%) Shift: 11:00pm – 7:30am; Rotating Weekends and Variable Weekdays

Job Summary The Clinical Laboratory at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital provides laboratory testing services for inpatients and outpatients of ZSFG, Laguna Honda Hospital, District Health Centers and other facilities under the auspices of the SF Public Health Department. Responsibilities include performing laboratory testing procedures, computer functions, quality control, and preventative maintenance. All work must be completed within required time frames with accuracy and professionalism. The role supports routine procedures, method improvement and development, and evaluation. The candidate must adhere to health and safety precautions and regulatory requirements, and demonstrate teamwork aligned with UCSF and ZSFG mission, vision, and values.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from college with Bachelor of Science in an appropriate scientific field

Successful completion of Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Scientist training, including a supervised 1‑year clinical internship from an accredited program

Possession of a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (or similar/license of equal or higher level issued by the State Department of Health)

Technical knowledge in biology, mathematics, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, immunology, molecular biology, virology, and core laboratory instrumentation (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis)

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer skills required for the position

Ability to multitask, adjust to changing work volumes, work independently under pressure, and maintain high level of organization

Excellent interpersonal communication, customer service, and written reporting skills

Capacity to critically analyze information, write technical procedures, and follow established protocols

Excellent work ethics

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of clinical laboratory experience focused on core laboratory departments (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis)

Experience with high volume analyzers

Effective verbal and written communication skills relative to clinical results

Salary Hourly rate: $68.81 – $85.71. Placement within this range depends on experience, internal equity, and labor union status as applicable.
