We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Advanced Surgical Oncologist to join our dynamic surgical team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced surgeon to shape the future of surgical oncology at our well-established medical center.
The Advanced Surgical Oncologist will be an integral part of our surgical team in the Center for Digestive Health at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. This role seeks a dedicated surgeon focused on the comprehensive care of patients with complex oncologic conditions. This role offers the unique opportunity to leverage your expertise, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and significantly contribute to program development and resident education.
Key Responsibilities
Provide advanced surgical care for patients with a broad spectrum of oncologic diseases, including:
Hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) cancers
Gastric cancer
Sarcoma
Melanoma
Other complex malignancies as appropriate
Actively participate in the education and mentorship of general surgery residents, providing guidance and hands‑on experience in advanced oncologic surgical techniques.
Collaborate effectively with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to patient care.
Establish and nurture key partnerships within the medical community and with referring providers to build a robust referral network.

Job Requirements
3+ years of clinical experience
Board Certification in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
Board Certification in complex general surgical oncology by the American Board of Surgery.
Demonstrated experience in a broad range of surgical oncology procedures.
Proven experience and enthusiasm for resident education and mentorship.
Strong interest and experience in program building and developing key partnerships.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
Ability to obtain privileges at VMFH hospitals
Ability to obtain a medical profession license in the state of Washington
Ability to obtain a DEA license with full prescriptive authority needed to practice
Must be a physician in good standing
