Our client, a highly regarded, ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) family office headquartered in New York City, is seeking a
Tax Associate . This is a unique opportunity to join an established, multi-generational organization.
As part of this in-house tax team, the Tax Associate will support the Tax Directors in the preparation, planning, and oversight of all tax-related functions for the family and affiliated entities.
Key Responsibilities
Support the income tax compliance process for all U.S. federal, state, local, and international filings
Coordinate with external tax service providers and monitor tax calendar deadlines to ensure timely filing
Assist in gathering data and preparing documentation for a range of tax returns, including:
Individual (1040, 1040-NR), Partnership (1065), C-Corp (1120), S-Corp (1120S), Trust (1041), Gift (709)
Provide support for foreign disclosures and filings (8858, 8865, 8621, 5471, 5472, 3520)
Maintain books and financial records for foreign-owned U.S. entities
Assist with tax projections, planning strategies, and ongoing compliance matters
Track and record all tax payments and ensure accuracy in budgeted cash flows
Review general ledgers for accuracy of tax-related transactions
Conduct research on prospective transactions, charitable strategies, and complex tax scenarios
Support responses to IRS/state notices and audit-related documentation
Assist with the drafting of technical memos as needed
Remain current on relevant tax laws, regulations, and industry practices
Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MST or CPA strongly preferred
3-5+ years of relevant experience in tax/accounting, preferably with HNW clients in a public accounting firm or family office
Exposure to international tax issues is a plus
Strong foundation in U.S. tax compliance and technical tax concepts
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with QuickBooks is preferred
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently
Professional, discreet, and team-oriented with a strong work ethic
