Job Description Summary Provides accounting services as a member of General Accounting Department.

Job Description Provides accounting services as a part of General Accounting related, but not limited to, accounts receivable, auxiliaries, leases, and workshops. Prepares journal entries and various financial reports for the University. Actively involved in the monthly and year-end close of the general ledger and corresponding audit. Prepares accurate and timely general ledger account reconciliations each month.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform monthly and year-end close of the general ledger.

Create, record, and approve various journal entries.

Work closely with representatives from Shared Services and Auxiliaries to maintain financial records.

Responsible for Workday set up related to various business units.

Prepare year-end audit workpapers and financial statements for the University.

Responsible for accounting related to assigned GASB pronouncements or other accounting guidance.

Responsible for monthly reconciliations, including, but not limited to, accounts receivable, auxiliaries, leases, and workshops.

Monitor and respond to various stakeholders using the General Accounting mailbox.

Monitor completion of the NCAA audit workpapers.

Responsible for completion of state regulatory reporting.

Escrow accounting.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Financial Reporting & Compliance or the Chief Accounting Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or general business.

5+ years of experience as a Staff Accountant, Auditor, or Accounting Supervisor/ Manager.

Experience with ERP software is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Master's degree in a business field is strongly preferred.

Experience with fund accounting in a university or similar environment.

Experience with Workday and Google applications preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires a strong proficiency with PC-based software including an advanced proficiency with Excel and experience with other analytical tools.

Excellent communication (verbal and written), analytical, time management, and organizational skills are required.

Knowledge of GAAP and the accrual basis of accounting are required.

Requires the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of GASB and FASB pronouncements preferred.
