Purpose and Scope Faculty will design, develop, and teach Government courses that support the college’s curriculum and contribute to the educational environment of both the campus and the broader community. Adjunct faculty serve on a semester‑by‑semester basis, typically teaching no more than five classes per academic year.
Essential Job Functions
Teach Government courses at various times and locations.
Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
Utilize a course syllabus for each course in accordance with institutional guidelines.
Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment, using electronic communication or other appropriate methods.
Evaluate students to measure their progress toward course objectives and provide timely feedback.
Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Demonstrated leadership skills that emphasize collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to appreciate and work effectively with alternative viewpoints.
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.
Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and lifelong learning.
Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, civic engagement, learning communities, and effective use of technology.
Effective strategies to engage students in their learning.
Physical Abilities Work is sedentary, requiring the employee to sit comfortably most of the time. Light walking, standing, bending, and carrying of small items such as papers or books are occasional. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions
Use of standard equipment: PC workstation, LAN, Microsoft Windows, calculator, phone, and other office equipment.
Interaction with internal and external contacts as necessary.
Work conducted in a climate‑controlled classroom or lab with minimal safety hazards.
Hours vary by class schedule; instructors must be available to meet with students outside of class instruction.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in political science / government, or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in political science / government. JDs and MPAs must have 18 graduate hours in related political science / government courses.
Compensation and Benefits Salary:
$55.44 per contact hour. Benefits:
