WHAT IS THE POSITION We are seeking a Part Time Virtual Teacher certified to teach Science, specifically Chemistry and/or Biology. You must possess a valid teaching certificate in Science grades 6‑12 to apply. The Virtual Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where learners can reach their potential and for organizing and implementing an instructional program that results in students achieving academic success in accordance with district and state policies and laws. The Virtual Teacher is a highly qualified instructional teacher responsible for delivery of specified course content in an online, virtual environment.

Note:

This is a Seasonal, Part‑time position. Hours are not guaranteed and may fluctuate depending on student enrollments and business needs. As an exempt employee, this position does not qualify for overtime compensation. No equipment is provided. As a variable part‑time employee, the role is not eligible for health benefits upon hire.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Acquaint students with their coursework and course requirements.

Employ asynchronous tools to supplement course content.

Track student progress and help students stay on pace to complete classes by the end date.

Be available to conference with parents of struggling students by phone or online.

Grade student work and enter grades into an online grade book in a timely manner.

Contribute to and complete student report cards.

Communicate with teachers, administrators, and parents as needed.

Respond to student messages and discussions within school guidelines and in a timely manner.

WHAT IS REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in education or related field.

State teaching certification endorsed in Chemistry or Biology grades 6‑12.

Preference for candidates with Biology/Chemistry in MI and/or IN and Biology in OR.

Experience teaching high school and adult learners.

Comfortable using technology for lesson delivery.

Ability to work collaboratively with students, classroom teachers, and other educators.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.

Pay amount for this role is $5 per enrollment and $25 per hour for synchronous instruction, paid biweekly. Pay range: $5—$25 USD. Pay will be determined based on experience and skill set.
