General Summary The Security Supervisor directly supervises and monitors the daily activities of the Constables, Controllers, Shift Leads, and Security Officers for all campuses with primary responsibility for their assigned shift. They may be assigned to either the Kent or Sussex Campus. This position also assists the Manager and Director in the management of the Public Safety Department, as assigned. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the security, safety, and well‑being of all Bayhealth Properties and individuals within.

Responsibilities

Directly supervise all Security Officers, Control Center Operators, Shift Leads, and Constables. Coordinate and monitor security activities, ensuring all rounds and directives are maintained on all shifts and schedules are followed.

Ensure staff are trained for all duties including monitoring the fire alarm system, camera system, duress alarms, and disaster equipment set up and location.

Ensure that all staff adhere to the training standards of IAHSS, Department Training, Bayhealth Policies and Procedures.

Complete performance evaluations for all assigned staff.

Conduct interviews of applicants and orient new staff.

Provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Ensure that 100% of required security inspections are complete.

Review all Security incident reports, safety violations and shift logs for errors, content and completion; report incidents and other pertinent information to the Manager and Director for review.

Regularly conduct quarterly post checks and unit rounding; brief the Manager on any pertinent findings.

Act as senior Security representative during emergencies until relieved by the department manager or director. Ensure notifications to appropriate hospital staff are made, and assign Security personnel to locations in the hospital to effectively handle the situation.

Maintain detailed and organized records of all reports, data, corrective action forms, and CD‑R’s as required.

Maintain established Bayhealth policies, including Public Safety Department procedures, objectives and Performance Improvement program.

Manage vehicle fleet responsibilities; ensure timely maintenance and accurate records for each vehicle.

Control locks and keys.

Enforce all Delaware Criminal Laws as necessary for crimes committed while on Bayhealth Property and in conjunction with assigned duties.

Attend Security Department meetings as required.

Submit written reports, investigate incidents, follow up investigations, observe/transport psychiatric patients, and make recommendations to prevent and correct incidents.

Complete all required departmental training programs within required time frames (Handcuffing Certification, Oleoresin Capsicum Certification, NAPPI De‑Escalation Training, IAHSS Certifications).

Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Credential(s): Driver License and Driving Record Required; Must be 21 or older for insurance purposes. IAHSS Supervisor Certification within 6 months of hire.

Experience: 2 years of security or law enforcement experience.

Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience

Education: Associate Degree – Criminal Justice or Law

Credential(s): Commissioned Constable

Experience: 3 years of hospital security experience, with 1 year of leadership experience.
