2nd Class Marine Electrician - Interior Communications (apx 50% Travel)

Location: Suffolk, Virginia. 50% travel required within and outside the continental United States. Work schedule: Monday thru Saturday, 10 hours a day as needed. Responsibilities

Install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for interior communications on marine vessels. Maintain and repair electrical systems on vessels and shipyard facilities. Apply troubleshooting skills to electronic equipment on board and in shipyard facilities. Use manufacturer manuals and documents to solve routine problems. Plan work sequences, select tools and test instruments ensuring compliance with accepted practices. Demonstrate quality, integrity, safety, respect, engagement and performance consistent with company values. Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment and structures for fleet modernization of U.S. Navy surface ships. Lay, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable or fiber optic on Navy vessels. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, and technical documents. Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment and cables. Remove and install cables overhead, along bulkheads, or under decks. Repair and replace cables and connectors. Use production process knowledge to complete complex installations on shipboard systems. Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications. Communicate effectively with supervisors and managers. Remove, plan, execute, and modify electrical cable, cableways, conductors, connectors, strain relief, fasteners, and equipment aboard naval vessels. Disconnect and reconnect electrical and data conductors on existing and new equipment for complete installation. Qualifications

U.S. citizen. DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one. High school diploma, GED, or industrial/trade school certificate. 3 to 5 years experience operating, maintaining and repairing electrical systems on Navy, Coast Guard or maritime vessels, and practical shipboard experience with HM&E systems. Familiar with one or more Interior Communications (IC) systems (MC, HYDRA, IVN, IVCN, SATCC, SIWCS). Ability to access government installations by obtaining and maintaining a DBIS credential. Available to work overtime and weekends upon managerial request. Travel outside Suffolk, VA as required. Experience with fiber optic cables and multi‑pin connectors. Hand tool proficiency; team environment experience. Strong grasp of NSI 009‐73 requirements (inspection, testing, installation, removal, and repair of shipboard electrical cabling and equipment). Proficient with reading electrical drawings and schematics, multimeters and megohm meters. Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard items and proper use of multimeters and megohm meters. Preferred Qualifications

Current NAVSEA Multipin Connector Certifications (NSI 009‑73). Current NAVSEA Fiber Optic Certification (NSI 009‑123). NAVSEA Cableway Improvement Program certifications. Vocational school or skilled trades certificate. Active DoD Secret clearance. OSHA 10 Maritime Certification. Microsoft Office knowledge. Physical Demands

Lift and carry heavy equipment and boxes (≥30 lbs). Work on and climb ladders, in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, industrial conditions and confined spaces. Perform tasks in high heat, humidity, noise, dirty conditions, aloft or over the sides of vessels. May be required to wear a respirator. Travel required as noted above.
