Job Summary Under the supervision of the Executive Director for the Southwest Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) or designee, the Braille Transcriber II prepares braille transcriptions and large print materials required by elementary and secondary students with visual impairments who need alternative formats. The Braille Transcriber II will work with and/or train anyone in the Braille Transcriber I position, order, maintain, and catalog braille and large print materials. This 12‑month, 8‑hour/day position includes one paid vacation and sick day per month of employment, and the district pays 100% for employee‑only health/welfare benefits. Dependent coverage is at a cost to the employee.

Requirements / Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or higher degree.

Certification: Library of Congress Literary Certification; en route to Library of Congress Nemeth Code of Mathematics or UEB with Math.

One year experience working as a braille transcriber.
