We’re seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and later) and Azure SQL platforms. This role involves managing large‑scale database environments, optimizing performance, ensuring security, and maintaining business continuity through advanced HA/DR solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases (on‑prem & Azure).
Implement and support HA/DR solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, geo‑replication, and point‑in‑time restore.
Manage Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
Ensure database security, compliance, and encryption using Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
Design and execute robust backup and recovery strategies.
Use PowerShell or Python to automate deployments, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot database issues, and tune queries for optimal results.
Support database migrations from on‑prem to Azure.
Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and cloud teams to maintain operational excellence.
Required Skills
12+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator (SQL Server 2016 or higher).
Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
Proven experience with Always On Availability Groups and Disaster Recovery configurations.
Hands‑on experience with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
Expertise in performance tuning, index optimization, and query analysis.
Scripting skills in PowerShell or Python for automation.
Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Data Factory (ADF/SSIS).
Solid understanding of database security principles and role‑based access control.
Experience migrating large databases from on‑premises to Azure.
Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration tools.
Government or enterprise‑level project experience.
