As a school bus monitor, you will assist the driver with the safe management of students onboard the vehicle. This includes escorting students as they enter and exit, performing safety checks, leading emergency evacuations, and communicating any behavior issues to parents, management, and the driver.
Job Type: Part‑Time Schedule: Monday‑Friday Location: Lancaster Hours: Split Shift
Responsibilities
Monitor all passengers to ensure safety on the bus.
Assist students in entering and exiting the bus.
Perform safety checks on the bus to ensure the safety of all students.
Know the routes and remain alert to monitor the welfare of passengers while in route.
Check the bus for sleeping children.
Assist driver to safely direct the vehicle when backing.
Conduct emergency evacuation from the bus, including exiting through emergency doors.
Ability to open and close service doors and move up and down steps multiple times a day.
Communicate behavior problems and conditions of bus stops to the driver.
Liaise with parents as needed.
Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the assigned bus.
Occasionally attend field trips and special events to ensure passenger safety.
Qualifications
1+ year(s) of experience working with children or students.
Comprehensive training program completion.
Pre‑employment background check.
