Territory Sales Manager – Food Manufacturing
We’re seeking an experienced and driven Territory Sales Manager to lead regional sales efforts within the food manufacturing industry. This role is responsible for achieving targets in revenue growth, market expansion, and profitability by developing new business, strengthening existing relationships, and effectively managing brokers and distributors across the assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and develop a network of brokers, distributors, and direct customers in alignment with company sales goals and brand standards.
Oversee regional profitability and P&L performance, managing pricing strategies, trade spending, product mix, and travel budgets.
Conduct regular field visits to engage with key accounts, introduce corporate programs, negotiate pricing and service agreements, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Handle product concerns or complaints quickly and professionally while maintaining positive, long‑term client relationships.
Provide sales training and product support to broker and distributor partners to ensure consistent brand representation.
Serve as the main point of contact for distribution headquarters and key channel partners.
Accurately complete all company reporting requirements and maintain current account documentation.
Monitor and report on market conditions, competitor activity, and emerging industry trends within food manufacturing.
Collaborate with marketing teams to implement promotional programs and develop account‑specific sales initiatives.
Identify and recommend improvements to sales processes, customer service strategies, and operational efficiency.
Participate in special projects or strategic initiatives as assigned.
Travel up to 75% within the assigned territory.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
3–5 years of sales experience in food manufacturing or perishable goods industries.
Experience working with brokers, distributors, or large retail and foodservice customers.
Proven ability to negotiate, communicate effectively, and build long‑term relationships.
Highly self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
5–7 years of prior sales experience within meat, protein, or perishable food manufacturing.
Experience managing P&L responsibilities or regional budgets is a plus.
Physical Requirements This role requires frequent walking, bending, standing, and sitting, with periodic visits to manufacturing environments. Candidates should be comfortable working in production areas with variable temperatures (cold, wet, hot, or noisy) and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
