Manufacturing Engineer
who specializes in
CNC programming
and
5-axis machining . Join our team to contribute to our South Milwaukee facility. Your primary role will be to develop and implement CNC programs to machine significant components for our mining equipment. You will also provide direct support in the operation of advanced metal cutting equipment, including milling centers, lathes, and gear manufacturing machines, using CAM software to create efficient and precise machining operations. Key Responsibilities: Develop efficient manufacturing processes for machining components used in Caterpillar's extensive mining equipment. Create and validate CNC programs for various machining operations, including 5-axis setups. Document manufacturing operation specifications, including standard operating procedures and machine setup drawings. Offer technical support for CNC operations and assist production staff with machining challenges. Design and specify workholding tools, jigs, and fixtures for complex machining tasks. Lead root cause analysis investigations to improve safety, quality, and manufacturing efficiency. Support manufacturing quality control and ensure ISO compliance. Manage relationships with vendors to secure cost-effective services and products. Assist in justifying investments in new machinery, software, and tooling to enhance manufacturing processes. Top Candidates Will Have: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Proficiency in CNC machining and turning operations with a focus on 5-axis technology. Experience in offline CNC programming and simulation tools. Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software (preferably GibbsCam, NXCam, Vericut). 3D modeling experience using CAD software (preferably Creo/ProE or SolidWorks). Understanding of cutting tool technologies. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices. Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 5-10% Summary Pay Range: $87,480.00 - $131,280.00 Compensation and benefits may vary based on individual experience, job level, and location.
