Senior Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician/Engineer – Semiconductor Facility

Overview We are seeking an experienced
Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician
to support process and utility system controls within a state-of-the-art
semiconductor manufacturing facility
in
Austin, TX . The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with
Emerson DeltaV distributed control systems , process automation, and instrumentation associated with high-purity and critical utility systems.
This position plays a key role in supporting facility operations, commissioning activities, system integration, and troubleshooting of complex control systems that are essential for semiconductor production reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities System Integration & Commissioning
Lead or support the installation, configuration, and commissioning of process and utility control systems, including instrumentation calibration and loop checks.
Configure and optimize DeltaV control modules, graphics, and alarm strategies to ensure process stability and compliance with fab standards.
Support functional and integrated testing of instrumentation and controls during tool installation, utility startup, and facility expansion projects.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting of control system issues involving field devices, PLCs, and distributed control systems (DCS).
Identify root causes of control and instrumentation failures and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime and optimize system performance.
Engineering & Technical Support
Support the design, specification, and selection of instrumentation and control devices (pressure, flow, temperature, level, and analytical sensors).
Collaborate with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to develop control strategies and ensure compliance with semiconductor facility standards.
Maintain and update P&IDs, control logic diagrams, and as-built documentation for I&C systems.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure instrumentation and control systems meet applicable codes, standards, and internal quality requirements (ISA, NEC, SEMI, and local regulatory standards).
Support documentation and validation efforts for critical process systems.
Promote safety and adherence to EHS procedures for electrical and process system work.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
3-7 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems, preferably within
semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or high‑tech manufacturing
environments.
Proven experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS , including configuration, troubleshooting, and integration.
Strong understanding of PLC systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and control network architectures.
Experience with instrumentation calibration, loop tuning, and system commissioning.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control narratives, electrical schematics, and logic diagrams.
Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, process gas systems, and high‑purity water or chemical delivery systems.
Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, high‑specification environment.
