Oncology Nurse Navigator Surgical Head and Neck Oncology Join to apply for the Oncology Nurse Navigator Surgical Head and Neck Oncology role at Dana‑Farber Cancer Institute.

The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) uses oncology‑specific clinical knowledge to offer individualized guidance to patients, families and caregivers throughout the cancer continuum. The ONN assesses patient needs and provides education, resources and psychosocial care across all phases of the disease.

Responsibilities

Participate in day‑to‑day operations of the program, including patient education and call triage.

Contribute to program evaluation, development of strategic goals, quality assurance/QI projects and research activities.

Assume nursing care responsibilities for a defined group of patients: assessment, education, coordination and documentation.

Provide individualized care considering functional status, culture, health literacy, psychosocial, reproductive/fertility, and spiritual needs.

Support transition of patients from active treatment to survivorship, chronic cancer management or end‑of‑life care.

Act as liaison between patients/families and providers to optimize outcomes, advocate for shared decision‑making and patient‑centered goals.

Deliver psychosocial support and appropriate referrals.

Maintain evidence‑based practice, comply with regulatory standards and the Code of Ethics for Nurses.

Participate in collaborative decision‑making and interprofessional teamwork.

Contribute to program metrics, outcome monitoring and documentation.

Serve as primary nursing contact for care delivered within the physician practice setting.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse licensed in Massachusetts or New Hampshire (or applicable state).

Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred; associate degree with BSN completion within 4 years acceptable.

Minimum of 1 year recent RN experience; ambulatory and/or oncology experience preferred.

Professional nursing certification preferred (OCN, BMTCN, CPHON, AOCNP, CRNI, RN‑BC).

AHA BLS required; AHA ACLS acceptable.

Demonstrated ability to work as effective member of interdisciplinary team, critical thinking, communication, organization and problem‑solving skills.

Pay Transparency The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by business needs, market conditions and internal equity. For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
