Desktop Support Technician
– TEKsystems, Birmingham, AL
We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Analyst to lead and execute a large‑scale migration from Windows 10 to Windows 11 across our enterprise environment. This role will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition for end users while maintaining system integrity and minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Perform end‑to‑end migration of Windows 10 workstations to Windows 11, including imaging, configuration, and deployment.
Provide desk‑side and remote support to resolve migration‑related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripheral compatibility issues during and after migration.
Collaborate with IT teams to validate applications, drivers, and security policies for Windows 11 readiness.
Maintain accurate documentation of migration processes, configurations, and user instructions.
Train and assist end users on new Windows 11 features and functionality.
Monitor and report on migration progress, escalating issues as needed to ensure timely completion.
Required Skills
2+ years of experience in desktop support within a Windows environment.
Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems, including imaging tools and deployment strategies.
Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and SCCM (or similar deployment tools).
Experience troubleshooting network connectivity issues (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and peripheral devices.
Excellent communication and customer service skills for supporting end users during migration.
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
Experience with automation tools for OS deployment.
Knowledge of Microsoft Intune or other endpoint management solutions.
Familiarity with enterprise security standards and compliance requirements.
Job Type & Location Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay & Benefits Pay range: $20.00 – $25.00/hr.
