Job Summary

The System Administrator is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the IT infrastructure across the Midwest Operations, which includes facilities in Mishawaka, IN and Buffalo Grove, IL. This role ensures reliable performance, security, and availability of all network systems, servers, and user endpoints. The System Administrator will provide hands‑on technical support, manage system upgrades, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate with corporate IT and local site leadership to align technology initiatives with operational needs. This position will primarily sit out of Mishawka, IN but will require some travel to Buffalo Grove, IL.

Duties / Responsibilities

Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.

Introducing and integrating new technologies into the existing environment.

Performing routine audits of systems and software.

Performing backups and testing recovery.

Applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes to servers.

Installing and configuring new server hardware and software.

Administration and routine maintenance for critical core services such as MS SQL Server, Power BI Gateways, and Domain Controllers.

Adding, removing, or updating user account information and group memberships, resetting passwords, etc.

Answering technical queries from users.

Responsibility for security of network and server systems.

Responsibility for documenting configuration of the network systems and servers.

Perform maintenance and updates to VMWare server infrastructure.

Troubleshooting any reported problems with servers/network.

System performance tuning.

Ensuring that the network infrastructure is up and running.

Administration of email services in Office 365/Entra.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

BA/BS in CS, EE, CIS, MIS or Mathematics from a 4‑year university or equivalent experience.

5+ years of Windows system administration supporting a production environment.

Well‑developed understanding of Computer Science principles and basic networking concepts; OSI network layers, TCP/IP, routers, switches, systems, and servers such as DHCP, DNS and understanding of system and network security.

Experience with Windows Server administration tasks, including installation, configuration, management, lockdown, security, patching and updating.

Experience with Active Directory, IIS, SQL Clustering, PowerShell, WSUS, SCCM, and Intune.

Knowledge and experience with traditional and hyperconverged infrastructure, SAN, RAID, NTFS, DFS, and Share Permissions.

Ability to troubleshoot and perform root‑cause analysis in a complex distributed environment.

4+ years of virtualization experience – VMWare preferred (ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, Log Insight, vROPs) or Hyper‑V management.

Familiarity with Nessus, Cortex XDR, Delinea Secret Server and security concepts such as OWASP and MITRE ATT&CK.

SharePoint Online setup and configuration experience (2+ years).

Experience with Entra (Azure) and AWS cloud services.

Experience with PowerShell scripting for maintenance and automation.

Knowledge and experience with SMTP Relay, SMTP Gateways / Anti‑Spam filters such as Mimecast.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, feel/reach with hands/arms, talk, and hear, sit and walk, bend and stop, push and pull, reach above shoulder level, kneel, squat, or crouch, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles; noise level moderate.
