Summary/Objectives The Universal Banker serves as a full-service, single point of contact in the branch for SouthState customers’ financial needs. The position operates in a dual capacity as a Teller and FSR, providing exceptional customer service in both transactional and account management. The Universal Banker seeks to attract, expand, and retain customer relationships and contributes to the financial growth of the bank.

Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the SouthState Bank Service Standards.
Knows and understands the products and services offered by the Bank, including facts and features, benefits, regulations, and pricing.
Identifies customer needs and expectations by listening for clues and seeks the opportunity to expand relationships by making referrals.
Presents a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy.
Ensures compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
Develops a strong understanding of customer-facing technology and enrolls customers in self-service options.
Teller Duties
Processes transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
Might assist in guiding and training new tellers.
Allows customers access to safe deposit boxes.
Cashes checks and processes savings withdrawals within assigned limits and prescribed procedures.
Sells certified checks.
Balances transactions daily.
Services/balances ATM as needed.
Utilizes the branch capture system.
Follows policies and procedures to minimize operational errors and maintain proper workflow.
Follows branch security and audit procedures and understands security devices.
FSR Duties
Opens new deposit accounts and handles other services such as stop payments, wire transfers, and maintenance functions within assigned limits.
Explains policies and procedures, considering most customers’ unfamiliarity with them.
Resolves customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion, directing difficult cases to other sources, and using them as opportunities to promote additional services.
Is knowledgeable about the bank’s financial services.
Shows sincere appreciation for each customer’s time and business and gives a business card when appropriate.
Follows branch security and audit procedures and understands security devices.
Ensures branch records, reports, and correspondence related to customer development attempts are correct, timely, and properly distributed.
Universal Banker Functions
One year of teller or cash handling experience and six months of customer relationship building or sales experience.
Demonstrated expertise in Teller II and basic FSR job functions.
Additional responsibilities may include Vault Responsibilities or Back‑Up Vault Responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Cash handling, sales, and customer service. Previous banking experience preferred.
Specific Knowledge: Good interpersonal skills, computer skills, and ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Work Environment Open lobby area with individual workstations. The position is located inside a cooled and heated facility; a break room or restroom is available during breaks.
Travel Travel may be required for meetings or training as needed.
