Job Title Project Engineer (PE) – MatPel Builders

Company MatPel Builders is a premier general contractor based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We specialize in architecturally significant, high‑end residential construction, including custom mountain estates, complex remodels, and detailed renovations.

Location & Travel Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Requires travel to various construction sites.

Job Description The PE supports Assistant Project Managers (APMs) and Project Managers (PMs) with building projects and provides general facility and office support to the Jackson team. The role helps plan and develop construction schedules, liaises with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, provides updates to internal project teams, and facilitates the distribution of project documents. This role supports a range of work from repairs, maintenance, and warranty tasks to small and medium‑sized remodels. The role serves as a training period for advancement into the APM role with supervision and feedback aimed at growth. Travel to construction sites is required.

Main Responsibilities

Project Set‑Up

– Collect all project information including directory, budget, schedule, submittal log, plans, and specifications from the estimating department. Work closely with APMs and PMs to process and organize project documentation.

Document Control

– Track and process submittals, RFIs, change orders, schedule updates, and budget revisions. Maintain up‑to‑date project documentation in Procore. Ensure current drawings and specifications are printed and available onsite. Take regular site photos and upload them to Procore. Take meeting notes at OAC and other project meetings as needed.

Submittals

– Help collect, review, and transmit submittals to confirm compliance with design and performance requirements.

Payment Applications

– Assist in reviewing project cost data on draft invoices in preparation for PMs to finalize and submit payment applications to clients.

Closeout

– Compile closeout materials including as‑built drawings, back‑stock inventory, and owner manuals. Participate in After‑Action Reviews (AARs) with the project team to evaluate performance and identify lessons learned.

Facility and Office Support

– Assist with maintaining office organization, stocking supplies and snacks, coordinating deliveries, and setting up for meetings. Run local errands and support general facility needs for the Jackson office as requested.

Required Experience, Traits, and Skills

High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field.

Previous experience with a construction, architectural, or MEP firm.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Computer literate with the ability to learn industry software quickly.

Basic understanding of construction practices and standards.

Excellent communication, organization, and time‑management skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Ability to work in both office and active construction site settings.

Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods, with intermittent standing, walking, bending, and climbing.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Comfortable working in varied environmental conditions including heat, cold, and exposure to dust or airborne particles.

Must be able to safely navigate ladders, stairs, and uneven job site terrain.
