Sprouts House Coordinator Location: Tucson, Arizona. The role is Community Outreach Professional II within the School of Geography, Development, & Environment.

Position Highlights

Build, maintain, and activate the Sprouts House instructional site.

Strengthen the school garden engagement pipeline at Mansfeld Middle School and bridge the gap from Pre‑K to higher education.

Support team members across domains and settings.

Duties & Responsibilities

Execute daily garden maintenance and diagnoses.

Manage garden and greenhouse growing calendar to maximize harvest output.

Calendaring use of space for public programs and internal programmatic use.

Coordinate Sprouts House outdoor and indoor classroom usage with Mansfeld teachers and staff.

Coordinate Sprouts House Food Lab field trips, produce sow/harvest, and cafeteria tastings.

Coordinate community work days and outreach events.

Identify opportunities for community collaboration to enrich the site.

Provide mentoring to interns, staff, and students.

Collaborate with SGW program leadership on initiatives.

Assist in organizing SGW program events, workshops, and educational sessions.

Contribute to programmatic improvements and expansion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of gardening and construction tools and techniques.

Experience in building projects: plumbing, irrigation, earth moving, garden installations.

Ability to coordinate and manage multiple programs simultaneously.

Experience in mentorship and leadership within educational or community programs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work outdoors in extreme cold and extreme heat.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning.

Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.

Ability to travel up to 5%.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in environmental sustainability, food justice, education, or community development.

Bilingual Spanish proficiency.

Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
