Assistant Track & Field Coach
at Maryville College – full-time, 40 hrs/week, based in Maryville, Tennessee.
Position Overview Reports to the Director of Cross Country/Track & Field. Responsible for coaching multiple event groups (sprints, hurdles, horizontal jumps, vertical jumps). Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act. Expected daily work hours 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
Coaches athletes in practice and competition, establishing rapport and maintaining ethical standards.
Selects, trains, and supervises student assistants and managers.
Fills all reporting requirements for track and field as assigned by the head coach.
Recruiting of potential student‑athletes and maintains office hours as assigned.
Serves as Game Manager for select home athletic events.
Attends all practices, meetings, and contests.
Supervises, schedules, and maintains facilities; organizes and supervises all off‑campus trips.
Supports long‑term planning, sustainability, and program growth.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
2–3 years of coaching or training experience (required). College track and field student‑athlete competition experience is preferred.
Valid driver’s license.
USTFCCCA technical certification is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to speak effectively before groups.
