Position Overview The Correctional Casework Supervisor position would provide a great opportunity for someone that wants to utilize their clinical programming knowledge in a supervisory capacity. The ability to impact clinical programming in a correctional setting in a positive way and ensuring individuals in custody are provided access to services while also enhancing and assisting in the development of the Correctional Counselor Staff. This position provides the opportunity to be part of a clinical team that interacts with all correctional facility departments and spans many different responsibilities. Essential Functions
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, the Social Security Administration, and other resource providers to ensure a comprehensive and effective service delivery system.
Serves as full line supervisor.
Monitors program agreements between individuals in custody and counselor setting forth specific behavior objectives to be achieved by the individuals in custody in a specified time frame.
Communicates concerns, issues, problems, or recommendations to the Infant Development Administrator in order to enhance operations in the Family Services Department.
Plans, coordinates, and directions programming designed to promote family reunification and bonding.
Participates in multidisciplinary staffing and treatment planning.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college supplemented by a Master’s Degree in behavioral or social sciences.
Requires two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in corrections, behavioral, social sciences or a related field.
Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience providing counseling services to individuals in a custody setting.
Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience participating as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience documenting progress of individuals in relation to case/treatment plans.
Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience in connecting people to community-based resources in preparation of community reintegration.
Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience utilizing computer programs in relation to counseling/ or human development services.
Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience delivering clinical programming in a group setting.
Conditions of Employment
Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
