Executive Recruiter | Luxury Hotel Operations Leader | Consultant Overview

new, chef-driven restaurant in Portland’s vibrant Pearl District
— a concept rooted in seasonal ingredients, Pacific Northwest sensibility, and an elevated yet approachable dining experience. We’re seeking a visionary
Executive Chef
to bring this concept to life from the ground up, leading menu development, kitchen design input, and team culture from day one.
This is an exciting opportunity for a culinary leader who thrives on creativity, collaboration, and building something truly original.
Key Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
Lead the opening culinary strategy — from concept refinement to menu creation and kitchen launch.
Develop and execute innovative, locally inspired menus that balance artistry, seasonality, and flavor.
Recruit, train, and mentor an opening kitchen team focused on consistency and excellence.
Partner closely with ownership and front-of-house leadership to ensure a cohesive guest experience.
Oversee daily kitchen operations, food costing, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and cleanliness in compliance with Oregon health codes.
Foster a positive, inclusive kitchen culture that embodies Portland’s spirit of creativity and community.
Qualifications
5+ years of progressive culinary experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Proven success in developing seasonal menus and managing kitchen operations in a high-quality environment.
Passion for local sourcing, sustainability, and modern culinary techniques.
Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
Experience with new restaurant openings a strong plus.
Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to collaborate with ownership and creative partners.

Education:
Culinary degree or equivalent training in a professional kitchen.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in progressive culinary leadership roles, with at least 3 years as an Executive Chef.

Expertise in menu development, food costing, and inventory management.
Knowledge of culinary trends, sustainability practices, and local sourcing.
Certifications:
Food safety and sanitation certifications are required; additional culinary certifications are preferred.
