What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations while utilizing EMR and/or Computer Assisted Coding software
Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and Quality teams to ensure accurate coding
Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on coding standards and practices
Participate in payer audits and maintain patient confidentiality in coding practices
What is Required (Qualifications):
Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA
Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in inpatient coding in an acute care facility
Advanced proficiency in ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
Experience in revenue cycle processes and clinical documentation improvement
Familiarity with electronic coding systems or applications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
