REMOTE POSITION, SEEKING CALIFORNIA AND NEW YORK STATE-BASED CANDIDATES ONLY.
Needle PR is gathering PR pro resumes for future openings at or around the Account Executive level. Our goal: welcome a new team member in early 2026—and for that person to feel like a match made in heaven for our small (but mighty) team.
Our other goal: to waste as little of our potential candidates’ time as possible. We know this job market is anything but pleasant, and our recruiting plans are intentionally flexible based on who we find. If an early 2026 hiring timeline works for you, and you have at least two years of media relations experience, keep reading—and DON’T send us a cover letter (more on next steps below).
What You’ll Do: This person will focus on proactive and reactive media relations, with excellent instincts for team support. They will be capable of pitching solo—from ideation to media list building to pitch drafting to outreach—love tracking current events, and feel extremely confident in their PR writing abilities. Key responsibilities:
Client management: Independently handle communication with clients (including meetings), offer thoughtful advice and recommendations to clients, and assist the team with the management of client accounts and projects.
Media relations: Understand and identify strong news angles and media opps, build and maintain comprehensive media lists, generate new story angles without prompting, write compelling pitch copy, know how to navigate comms with reporters, and ultimately, secure regular media opportunities.
Content writing: Draft a broad range of materials, including press releases, biographies, briefing documents, Q&As, blogs, bylines, and occasional social media posts. Enjoy the editing and revision process, and feel comfortable providing both line‑by‑line and big‑picture feedback for colleagues’ content.
New Business: Write compelling copy for new business proposals, research new prospects, and feel comfortable ideating strategic recommendations.
Who We’re Looking For: We envision this next hire having:
2-3 years of relevant PR experience, ideally at an agency.
Interest in honing their media relations skills specifically.
A sharp eye for detail. For example, if you’re reading this, please email your resume directly to hello@needlepr.com with the exact subject line ‘Make a Point 79’. Please, no cover letter, and no elaborate email - just your resume and quick hello/mini intro.
Either direct experience in or a personal passion for the technology, VC, and startup landscape.
Authentic interest in current events, news analysis, and digital media trends.
Natural writing abilities, no AI required.
You want to bring your full personality to work and happen to be excellent at what you do. What do we mean by that?
Clients describe us as ambitious, creative, nimble, sharp, and deeply strategic. They enjoy hearing our perspectives and trust our recommendations.
At work, we instinctively know how to navigate each other's working styles, with deep respect for each other’s time, well-being, and bandwidth. We believe in kind, empathetic communication, and spoiler alert—we’re actually friends!
Outside of work, each of our team members considers themselves a creative—poetry, short stories, dance, books, podcasts, etc.
You’re obsessed with the news, including newsletters, content creators, and podcasts.
You’re good at ‘reading the room’.
You’re confident in your own beliefs—we love hot takes, but only if you can back them up.
Perks and Benefits:
Fully remote work, as long as your home base is in California or New York.
Team retreats at least twice per year and regular meet‑ups in LA/SF.
Ability to select your own healthcare plan (with monthly reimbursements in full).
Flexible Fridays.
Unlimited PTO.
Ability to evolve your role to fit your strengths, preferences, and long‑term career aspirations over time.
More personal freedom than your average PR agency role!
