Overview
The Post Oak Hotel is seeking a Banquet Captain to join the only Forbes Five‑Star Hotel in Texas. We hire passionate and professional colleagues who genuinely delight our guests through curated and authentic experiences.
The Banquet Captain will be responsible for managing operations in an efficient and professional manner to ensure quality service to guests while ensuring all colleagues maintain Forbes Five‑Star service standards to help banquet operations proceed smoothly.
Responsibilities
Check to ensure that all rooms are set‑up to department specifications and diagrams
Meet and talk with host. Keep in direct contact with host during the function. Handle or delegate all special requests from the host
Supervise Housemen, servers and bartenders assist when necessary in the set‑up of all Banquet rooms if needed
Maintain accurate paperwork for inventory levels, scheduling, payroll, employee records, captain’s reports, gratuity sheets and Banquet checks
Ensure guest satisfaction during the function and resolve customer complaints
Communicate with Banquet Chef, Director of Banquets or Executive Chef regarding any problems relating to the food or the kitchen
Communicate with Engineering to ensure quality physical appearance of the banquet space and complete work orders if needed
Knowledge of cash registers and other Banquet related equipment
Qualifications

5 years’ experience in Banquets, 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role/preferably in banquets
1‑year prior inventory/cost control experience.
Must speak, read, write and understand English
Must possess basic mathematical skills to include ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide specific to position responsibilities
Previous hotel experience, luxury or Forbes experience preferred
Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays is required
Physical demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and prolonged extended periods of standing
