Job Title Chemistry Technician II (Day shift) – Antech Diagnostics

Work Shift 10:00 am – 6:30 pm, Monday – Friday (On‑site, Laboratory, Fountain Valley, CA)

Job Purpose / Overview The Chemistry Laboratory Technician II performs laboratory analyses, prepares samples, operates instrumentation, reads and releases test results, and maintains laboratory quality and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Set up and run laboratory tests.

Read and release test results.

Prepare and fill reagents for the analyzer.

Track reagent supplies and maintain inventory of reagent lots and expiration dates.

Operate and troubleshoot the analyzer.

Reconcile pending and queue lists daily.

Ensure proper manifest submissions.

Calibrate, run, or enter QC (Quality Controls) when necessary, entering data into QA software and ensuring QC passes before releasing patient samples.

Run verifications and perform equipment maintenance activities.

Comply with all QA policies and protocols.

Report technical or QC problems to lead tech or supervisor.

Follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety and quality procedures.

Maintain a clean and organized work area; restock supplies as needed.

May be cross‑trained to perform other duties, such as fewer complex tests.

Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.

Consult with senior peers on non‑complex chemistry tasks; learn through experience.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent, 2‑ or 4‑year degree in a science‑related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Laboratory skills/experience including setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments.

Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology and chemistry procedures and equipment.

General science background.

Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Effective communication skills.

Proficient in English, including participation in meetings and accurate data entry.

Positive, can‑do attitude.

Computer skills, including strong typing and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Working Conditions

Stationary position: may remain in a stationary position up to 2 hours.

Operates a computer and lab equipment accurately and efficiently.

Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch.

Lifts, moves, and carries up to 20 lbs.

Observes detail at close range.

Extended hours may be needed.

Laboratory environment with potential biohazards.

Works under close to moderate supervision.

Potential exposure to zoonotic disease agents and hazardous chemicals.
