The ELA CIS works in collaboration with the UCP Consortium Education Leadership Team, UCP Administrators, educators and Art Integration Specialists. The objective is to develop the capacity of instructional leaders and educators in delivering, promoting, and supporting effective and innovative ELA/Humanities instruction and integration designed to increase student ELA - Humanities achievement in every building, for each student.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and support the implementation of a consortium plan for innovative ELA, Writing, Social Studies, History, and Civics initiatives.
Develop and implement quality, research-based professional learning in Humanities for campus leadership, faculty and staff.
Provide technical assistance and support to teachers, tutors and campus administrators by interpreting and analyzing student data, assisting with program planning, and providing feedback concerning curriculum implementation.
Analyze academic and instructional data to identify trends and drive decision making across the consortium.
Conducts classroom observations to help identify strengths and areas of growth related to ELA-Humanities instruction and program implementation using UCP’s instructional coaching cycle.
Provide embedded coaching and feedback to teachers and instructional staff and model effective instructional strategies in the classroom.
Works alongside participating teachers, coaches, teacher leaders, tutors and principals modeling effective classroom practices, observing instruction, and facilitating reflection to promote student learning.
Provides support and professional learning in standards-based lesson planning.
Assists in collaboration of curriculum writing in ELA - Humanities
Make recommendations on ELA – Humanities curricula initiatives/purchases and assist on coordination of purchases.
Coordinates, organizes, and promotes ELA - Humanities Consortium Events
Provides support to 21st CCLC program/other after school and summer programs for ELA – Humanities
Pilot and evaluate new instructional tools and programs and creative instructional practices that engage and increase access/learning gains for all learners.
Ensure all ELA instructional materials are accessible and inclusive for students with diverse needs.
Assist with grant writing/reporting and budget monitoring as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education and Training
Valid Florida teaching certificate
ESE endorsement or certification preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in content area; master’s degree preferred.
Reading Endorsed
Education Leadership certification preferred.

Minimum Experience/Skills
3-5 years in a K-12 classroom teaching ELA.
Experience in a leadership role and experience in curriculum and assessment development.
Knowledge of current research, procedures, and best practices in ELA education, curriculum, and assessment including a strong knowledge of the Science of Reading and Orton Gillingham Approach
Knowledge of current research, procedures, and best practices in Humanities (Social Studies, Civics, History, Art Integration) related to curriculum and assessment.
Demonstrated successfully in professional learning for educators with strong presentation skills and experience in developing and presenting professional development sessions.
Strong understanding of the state standards (B.E.S.T., N.G.S.S.) and respective differentiation of content.
Has experience with leading MTSS processes.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with others.
Experience in technology applications, i.e. Google, Microsoft, etc.
Experience with Art Integration is preferred.
Deep knowledge of curriculum design, instructional best practices, and differentiation.
