Tool Maker II

This position would work with various departments to improve or make different types of tools that enable the production processes to be as efficient as possible. Reporting to the Production Manager. Essential job functions include: Reading blueprints, sketches, or CAD and CAM files Setting up, operating, and disassembling conventional, manual, automatic, and CNC machine tools Aligning, securing, and adjusting cutting tools and work piecesmonitoring the feed and speed of machines Turning, milling, drilling, shaping, and grinding machine parts to specificationsfiling, grinding, and adjusting parts so that they fit together properly Measuring, examining, and testing completed products for defectstesting completed tools and dies to ensure that they meet specifications Smoothing and polishing the surfaces of parts or products, tools, and diespresenting finished workpieces to customers and making modifications if needed Computing and verifying dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of work pieces Operating and setting up CNC Lathe machines Properly using calipers, verniers, and thread gauges Selecting and installing cutting tools, tool holders, fixtures, and other accessories according to specifications Making appropriate offsets and adjustments to tools Skills and abilities include: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to safely and accurately operate all measuring and production equipment Working understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra Thorough understanding of metallic properties Ability to work independently, and with engineers and machinists Proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) software Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software Education and experience include: 3-5 years of experience creating tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures Successful completion of an apprentice program with a licensed professional or established company preferred EEOC Statement: MW Components provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
