Coatings Project Manager and Estimator
to join their dynamic team. About the Position In the role of
Coatings Project Manager and Estimator , you will be essential in managing industrial coatings projects from the initial bidding phase through to project execution and final closeout. This position requires extensive knowledge of surface preparation techniques, coating systems, and operational field procedures. You will guide field teams, coordinate with subcontractors, manage budgets and timelines, and ensure that all tasks are executed safely and meet the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Project Oversight Oversee all stages of coatings projects, from planning and execution to successful closeout. Lead field crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials across multiple job sites. Ensure adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budgets. Act as the primary contact for clients, inspectors, and vendors. Estimating & Planning Assess blueprints, specifications, and site conditions to provide precise estimates. Prepare and present competitive bid proposals and manage change orders. Choose suitable surface preparation and coating systems tailored to project requirements. Safety & Compliance Implement OSHA regulations and enforce company safety protocols at all sites. Conduct safety inspections, toolbox talks, and investigations of incidents. Foster a culture of zero tolerance toward unsafe practices. Quality Control Ensure compliance with industry standards such as SSPC and NACE. Supervise inspection processes, including DFT checks and cleanliness tests. Keep accurate records for quality documentation and work in collaboration with QA/QC teams. Budget & Cost Management Track costs, materials, labor, and overall project profitability. Enhance resource allocation and identify opportunities for cost savings. Manage billing from subcontractors and oversee procurement activities. Documentation & Reporting Maintain thorough project records, reports, and regular updates. Communicate project progress and performance with clients and internal stakeholders. Complete all closeout documentation promptly and professionally. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Industrial Coatings, or a related field (preferred). At least 5 years of experience in managing industrial coatings or painting projects. Extensive knowledge of coating systems, such as epoxies, polyurethanes, and zinc-rich primers. Familiarity with surface preparation standards like SSPC-SP10 and SP6. Strong estimation and takeoff skills are essential. Certifications such as NACE Level I/II or SSPC QP/PCI are highly desirable.
