Job Overview
We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well‑integrated team as a Consultant in Paediatric Haematology with a focus on haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), advanced cellular therapies (CAR‑T), and leukaemia. Main Responsibilities
Provide shared management of paediatric stem cell transplant patients, including inpatient and outpatient care, and oversee transplants for both malignant and non‑malignant indications. Lead the paediatric haematology laboratory service, reporting blood films, bone marrow and CSF specimens, and perform procedures such as lumbar punctures, bone marrow harvests and intrathecal chemotherapy. Prescribe CAR‑T and haematology protocols, manage patient work‑up, outpatient management and liaison with base hospitals; participate in the national CAR‑T panel. Provide on‑call cover for the paediatric stem cell transplant programme and oversee in‑patient care during cellular therapies. Contribute to teaching, education, research, audit and governance within paediatric haematology/oncology. Lead and supervise specialist registrars, support higher specialist training and provide clinical oversight. Qualifications and Experience
Full GMC registration and entry onto the specialist register within six months of appointment. FRCPath or equivalent and specialist skill in paediatric haematology/HSCT. Minimum 12 months’ experience in paediatric haematology (or 2 years if not MRCPCH). Experience preparing children for HSCT and CAR‑T therapy, with demonstrated clinical and laboratory expertise. Proven management and audit experience, ability to lead projects and implement change. Strong teaching record at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Desirable
Higher degree (MSc, MScH, PhD). Publications in haematology or related fields, conference presentations. Experience with national clinical guidelines and clinical governance. Personal Attributes
