Massachusetts General Hospital Speech Language Pathologist II The MGH Out-Patient Multidisciplinary ALS Team is seeking an experienced SLP to join the SLP ALS practice within the larger Massachusetts General Hospital SLP department. The speech language pathologist will be an active member of a vibrant multi-disciplinary team caring for patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), and other motor neuron diseases. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in motor speech and swallowing disorders resulting from neurodegenerative disease, and a passion for supporting patients and families through serious illness conversations and end of life care. Knowledge of, or desire to learn AAC is welcomed. The SLP will participate in clinical research and program development. Prior professional experience working with adults in a medical setting, particularly with neurological disorders is strongly preferred. The individual must demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based practice, advanced critical thinking, and compassion for the patients we serve. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential given the nature of the work, which involves multiple disciplines and close collaboration. This is a 24 hour per week position. The position involves providing in person clinical care in the multidisciplinary clinic at MGH Waltham (Mondays) and MGH Main Campus (Tuesday and Thursday). There may be some telepractice patient care delivery components. Education

Active MA license in Speech Language Pathology ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) Required

Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) Current Massachusetts Speech Language Pathologist license A strong understanding of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and evidenced-based neurorehabilitation science At least one year relevant clinical experience working with a neurologic patient population Strong spoken and written communication skills Preferred

Experience working within and across interprofessional teams Experience working with augmentative and alternative means of communication (AAC) Experience having and documenting serious illness conversations Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Familiarity with diagnostic assessments for motor speech, cognitive-linguistic and swallowing disorders. Employee must have strong interpersonal skills. Ability to incorporate new clinical procedures sufficiently to perform clinical services independently. Ability to perform functions associated with contemporary speech-language pathology scope of practice. Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Knowledge of state standards, federal and state regulations. Physical Requirements
