About the role This position is responsible for maintaining and growing sales and profits, within the business unit, of up to 5 assigned product-lines. Provides competitive and market landscape analysis and emerging technology assessment. Identifies potential strategic partners and acquisition targets. Also responsible for examining, developing and recommending product strategies for assigned product groups.
Responsibilities
Oversee and provide support for product development across the business unit
Define product roadmaps; what additional products or product enhancements are needed
Manage all products in assigned line(s) throughout all stages of their life cycle, developing/managing strategies for product design and development, introduction, continuing contribution and discontinuance
Establish product pricing and assess product costs and gross margin
Responsible for detailed market, technology and competitive product assessments
Development of business cases that align with the strategy of the company
Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams through all phases of the PAC/PDI process
Work cross-functionally with both internal teams and strategic partners in order to grow the sales and profitability of assigned product lines
Support of Global Sales Team as needed to make assigned product-lines successful
Attend sales meetings, visit customers and end-users; conduct product trainings and research
Provide support and direction for global sourcing decisions, capacity planning, capital investment planning and manufacturing cost reduction activities
Mentor Associate and Product Managers
Recommend marketing materials and assist with their development from a technical perspective
Assist in the development of appropriate training materials for the value chain
May represent Leviton on industry technical committees
Qualifications
Knowledge of manufacturing and operations processes
Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Experience presenting to groups of managers, employees, and the general public
Must be self-reliant and possess excellent oral and written communication
Must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision
Must apply critical thinking skills to determine best approach to bring new products to market and to work with engineering, operations and marketing and sales staff
Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with customers
Ability to organize and manage project teams to support the development of business opportunities and execute business decisions
A highly developed level of creative skills and resourcefulness is required
Excellent time management skills
Education & Experience
A Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business field is required. Master’s degree is a plus
MBA preferred
5+ years of direct Product Management experience required through entire life cycle
Experience with regulatory or standards organizations, such as UL, CSA and NOM is a plus
Experience with respective markets / products
Travel Up to 30% travel
