Responsibilities
Independently plan, design, and execute synthetic biology experiments to construct high-quality nucleic acid material for mRNA vaccine production.
Take the lead in high-throughput gene synthesis and plasmid production, including nucleic acid purification and characterization.
Develop, evaluate, and implement new synthetic biology technologies and optimize existing techniques/workflows.
Collaborate with Automation engineers to automate the gene synthesis workflow and meet high-throughput requirements.
Utilize software tools to automate DNA designs and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis.
Function in highly collaborative cross-functional teams and prepare technical reports and presentations.
Mentor junior team members as needed and take part in mRNA vaccine target development and QC.
Required Skills & Experience
Education:
Ph.D. with 2+ years of post-graduate experience in the synthetic biology field.
Direct experience in oligo synthesis is mandatory.
Extensive experience in sequence design, gene assembly, NGS library prep, analysis, and process optimization.
Hands‑on molecular biology skills including operation of an oligo synthesizer, PCR, Gibson and Golden Gate Assembly, Illumina and nanopore NGS platforms, and automated liquid handlers (e.g., Hamilton).
Expertise in nucleic acid sequence analysis software (e.g., Geneious, Snapgene, Benchling).
Expertise in analytical and molecular biology methods relevant to DNA work.
Desire to work in a team‑first, fast‑paced environment and exhibit meticulous record‑keeping.
Preferred Skills
Experience in programming such as Python, SQL, or R.
Experience setting up research agreements and managing externalized research and tech transfer activities with contract research labs.
