VIII. REQUIREMENTS: Proper certification for position. Transportation for travel among the various schools within the district and to various meetings when assigned and/or approved by administration. Ability to communicate and work with all facets of the educational community including students, staff and public in a professional manner. Possess a Master's Degree from an approved accredited institution with a major in school counseling. Possess knowledge of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) standards and Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) standards that directly impact school counselors such as the Career, Education, and Work Standards and the Future Ready Index.

Any building or grade level within the district covered by certification as assigned by district administration

X. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

School Counselor shall counsel students with personal problems and/or education concerns to facilitate increased learning. He/she shall work with students, parents/guardians/ teachers, administrators and resource personnel to try to improve the individual student's education experience.

The School Counselor shall:

Fulfill the goals and activities outlined in the district K-12 Guidance Plan for the school and grade level to which assigned. Working cooperatively with administration and staff, initiate projects and processes that will strengthen the district guidance plan. Be responsive to administrative direction in carrying out the district guidance plan. Be familiar with and responsive to the staff handbook for the particular school and grade level to which assigned. Counsel students individually and/or in groups with identified concerns and/or needs. Provide individual Crisis Prevention and Response Services as needed. Serve on the Warrior Run Mental Health team and assist in wellness and universal screenings. Advise and provide information to parents/guardians and teachers. Collect information for special reports from teachers, students and records. Serve on individualized education program (IEP) teams when deemed appropriate. In conjunction with Principals, coordinate and administer state testing. Contact person for parents/guardians and students regarding educational planning, student grades and programs, and financial aid. Schedule students in appropriate classes in conjunction with teacher, administration, and parents. Work with students on education/vocational post-secondary planning. Keep abreast of current practices in the field of guidance and school counseling through attendance at professional conferences/workshops. Assist administration in developing a master schedule and individual student schedules. Serve on/Lead the building level Warrior Run Assistance Program (WRAP) team. Serve on building level School-Wide Positive Behavior (PBIS) Team, Problem Solving Team (PST) and Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Team. Assist administration in making arrangements for enrolment in Summer School. Participate in annual updating of the K-12 Guidance Plan and goals. Deliver school counseling curriculum based lessons either independently or as collaboratively with the classroom teacher. Supervise and maintain cumulative records and enroll students in the respective building in which Counselor is assigned. Perform and and all other duties prescribed by the administration. In addition to the duties and responsibilities above, the High School Counselor shall:

Assist students filling out application forms for school, financial aid and jobs. Write recommendations on behalf of students for colleges, technical schools, scholarships, special awards and military service. Prepare student transcripts for schools, employers, etc. Compile class rank data for all students in grades 9-12. In September and January, review the records of all seniors to check their progress in meeting graduation requirements. He/she shall talk to any students who may have difficulty meeting graduation requirements and write letters in conjunction with the High School Principals to parent(s)/guardian(s) regarding such problems. Coordinate and set up visits of representatives from colleges, technical schools, the military services and private training facilities. Provide information on career areas and schools and administer and interpret interest tests (ex. ASVAB). Serve as the chair of the scholarship committee.
