Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
Provides comprehensive medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for pediatric consumers in accordance with developmental and behavioral health standards.
Coordinates appropriate medical and developmental follow-up after discharge or treatment completion.
Adheres to the professional code of ethics and scope of practice for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
Practices evidence-based standards of pediatric care, ensuring age-appropriate assessments, interventions, and education for patients and families.
Collaborates with families and caregivers to promote understanding of treatment plans and continuity of care.
Supervision and Consultation
Collaborates effectively with supervising Medical Doctor in accordance with the signed protocol and formulary, ensuring alignment with pediatric-specific practice standards.
Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed, particularly in complex pediatric or developmental cases.
Accepts and integrates feedback and suggestions for clinical and professional improvement.
Actively works to enhance pediatric clinical knowledge, diagnostic skills, and therapeutic approaches through continuing education and mentorship.
Clinical Record Keeping
Documents per AltaPointe policy in a timely fashion
Documents appropriate, complete, and clinically comprehensive psychiatric evaluations per AltaPointe policy
Documents in a clear and concise manner, consumer symptoms and treatment
Documents legibly
Completes all documentation and paperwork as per AltaPointe policy
Follows Department of Medical Records guidelines for documentation
Case Load Management:
Effectively manages caseload based on consumer needs
Meets AltaPointe productivity standards
Courteous and respectful attitudes towards consumers, visitors and co-workers
Treats consumers with care, dignity and compassion
Respects consumers privacy and confidentiality
Is pleasant and cooperative with others
Assists visitors and consumers as needed
Personal values don’t inhibit ability to relate and care for others
Is sensitive to the consumers needs, expectations and individual differences
Is gentle and calm with consumers and families
Administrative and Other Related Duties as Assigned:
Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities
Actively participates in AltaPointe committees as required
Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner
Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures
Maintains current license and requirements for renewals (i.e. CEU’s), maintains appropriate malpractice insurance and attends to required in-services and workshops
Abides by all AltaPointe policies and procedures
Displays a positive attitude in work environment
Qualifications Possesses current Alabama license to practice as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Current certification as a Primary Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-PC) or as a Dual Certified Primary Care/Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-PC/AC) by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB).
