The role you'll contribute: Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the Endoscopy/Special Procedures unit for all patient populations, this role emphasizes the importance of the coordination of patient care using a multidisciplinary approach to the nursing process. In alignment with the hospital's mission, physician, and patient expectations, the position upholds the highest standards of professional nursing practice within legal and regulatory frameworks. The role involves significant collaboration with physicians during procedures, ensuring the quality of care provided resonates with the philosophy, goals, and policies of the Nursing Department and hospital administration. Responsibilities also include managing the cleaning of equipment, ordering supplies, and ensuring the effective implementation of hospital and departmental policies and procedures during predetermined shifts. This role actively engages in outstanding customer service, maintains respectful relationships with all, and adheres to compliance plans and regulations of applicable agencies and accrediting bodies. Through the use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing, the position is tasked with providing individualized, goal-directed nursing care, demonstrating accountability and responsibility for the care given to patients in the Endoscopy Lab. Systematically assessing the health status of individuals and record related health data Establishing nursing diagnoses Planning and implementing nursing interventions Providing pre, intra, and post procedure education to the patients, families, significant others, and/or caregivers Providing health promotion strategies and education to patients and their support system, Administering and evaluating pharmacological and other therapeutic treatment regimens mandated by the particular situation and evidence-based practice. Evaluating outcomes of nursing intervention and initiating change when appropriate, Employing strategies to promote a healthy and safe environment Making ethical and moral decisions surrounding patient care Acknowledging diversity when providing patient care Assisting the physician and/or advanced provider during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (minor surgical, GI, Pulmonary and Pain Management) to promote optimal patient outcomes Promoting optimal patient outcomes by recognizing changes in the patient's health status and responding appropriately Collaborating with the patient and interprofessional team to ensure quality and continuity of care Communicating effectively with the patient and interprofessional team to ensure quality and continuity of care Acting as a resource for others and serving as a mentor for others Delegate tasks according to the state Nurse Practice Act (if applicable), state board of nursing or professional registration requirements, state laws, and job descriptions. Document nursing care completely, accurately, and legibly. Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as needed. Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects. Participate in the performance appraisal process. Use critical thinking, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members. Maintain required competencies. Pursue professional growth and participate in a professional organization. Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. Any additional duties assigned that are in support of perioperative patient care.
