Our Opportunity: Winterfest, celebrating its tenth anniversary, is bringing back all the fan favorites, including ice skating, s'mores stations and igloos underneath 100,000 twinkling lights in the shadow of the Gateway Arch. This eight-week winter celebration will also showcase exciting events like try hockey free, visits from princesses and superheroes, and a family friendly New Year's Eve fireworks spectacular. Winterfest Assistants support Gateway Arch Park Foundation’s event department by helping create a hospitable, informative, and visitor-centered environment. Dates for the event are Saturday, November 22 – Sunday, January 11. Volunteer roles include: Winterfest Event Support : Throughout the season, volunteers in this position will greet guests, provide information about scheduled events and give directions. Greeter Volunteers will be the face of Winterfest by providing knowledge about the event and Gateway Arch Park Foundation (the host). Volunteers will also assist visitors with getting skates on and off, skate return, ensure visitors do not wear their stakes off the skate-up area, and assist visitors with the lockers to store their personal items. Igloo Check-in and Hospitality:

Volunteers assist event staff with giving out wristbands to igloo reservation guests, escorting guests from check-in to their igloo, and helping event staff clean, and maintain the igloos during reservation changes. During the event, volunteers will check in with igloo guests to ensure they have everything they need and have a pleasant experience. Greater St. Louis Inc. Lodge Attendant:

The GSL Lodge at Winterfest will host a variety of activities, including Sunday movies, special character appearances, private events, and more. Volunteers will assist with set up and break down of various activations that will happen throughout the season and provide customer service to visitors attending the event. Information Tent:

Volunteers share the mission of Gateway Arch Park Foundation and encourage people to become members, volunteers, or purchase Winterfest merchandise. (Opening Day Only, Saturday Nov 22, 2025) Special Dates: Opening Day, Saturday, November 25, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31, 4-8 p.m. Roles and Responsibilities: 18 or older (younger applicants with parental/guardian approval may be considered). As representatives of Gateway Arch Park Foundation, volunteers must adhere to the policies, procedures, and code of conduct as outlined in the volunteer handbook provided prior to or during training. Required Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills: Excellent communication skills A desire to interact with the public and learn more about event planning Enthusiasm, friendliness, and a positive attitude Respect for confidentiality of the Gateway Arch Park Foundation’s volunteers, partners, members, and donors Willingness to take initiative, and voice ideas Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time Ability to stand cool winter temperatures for extended periods of time Ability to occasionally lift and move up to twenty-five (25) pounds Commitment: All volunteers must commit to serving at least three 4-hour shifts between November 22 – January 11. Registration is available for 2 volunteers per shift, and all shifts are from Noon to 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. unless otherwise specified in VolunteerHub. Location: Kiener Plaza located at 500 Chestnut St. St. Louis, MO 63101. All volunteers will check in with the Manager on Duty at the middle window of the Box Office to receive instruction for their shift. Training and Supervision: Volunteers must attend an in-person training on Friday, November 21 at 5 p.m. You can register for orientation here.
