Job Description
As the Director of Special Populations Management, you will play a critical role in advancing KIPP Texas's mission by ensuring that all students have equitable access to the educational resources they need to thrive. This position requires an innovative leader who will collaborate with schools and regions to enhance inclusive educational practices.
Position Overview
The Director will spearhead strategic initiatives for Special Populations and oversee programs such as special education, dyslexia, Section 504, and MTSS.
Strategic Leadership:
Drive a vision that guarantees student success. Guide and assist school and regional teams in realizing the Special Education Strategic Plan, focusing on collaborative performance improvement aligned with established goals. Instructional Leadership:
Empower and build skills within school leadership teams regarding pedagogy, data analysis, and professional development. Team Development:
Lead a dedicated team of Directors, Managers, and Program Coordinators, monitoring their effectiveness and compliance through coaching and evaluations. Effective Communication:
Foster superior communication between state-level and regional teams to ensure well-coordinated support. Legal Compliance:
Stay informed on IDEA, Texas State Education Law, and Section 504, ensuring high performance for MTSS systems. Budget Management:
Oversee special education funding and understand accountability structures. Duties and Responsibilities Leadership and Collaboration:
Cultivate a collaborative culture within the Special Population Department. Program Management:
Implement policies per federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education. Instructional Support:
Develop and implement enhancements in curriculum for students with disabilities, ensuring staffing levels meet the students' needs. Financial Management:
Develop and manage the budget related to special education. Professional Development:
Provide training that supports staff in effectively serving students with disabilities. Community Engagement:
Actively involve parents and community members in the education process and communication of success. Qualifications Master’s Degree required; Mid Management/Principal Certification and Diagnostician Certification preferred. Five years of relevant teaching experience, especially in Special Education. 3-5 years of leadership experience with demonstrable success in system-level administration.
