Temporary Appointment At Tennessee Valley Healthcare System
This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 12 months, selectee may be converted non-competitively to the position permanently. Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) is a Joint Commission accredited, complexity level 1-A, integrated tertiary Healthcare System comprised of two medical centers with one located in Nashville, TN and one at Murfreesboro, TN. TVHS also manages 20 VA Outpatient Clinics and other sites of care located throughout Tennessee and Kentucky. Responsibilities include sharing top management, executive level responsibility for the direction and management of the Healthcare System. The Associate Director may serve as Acting Health System Director in his/her absence with full responsibility and concomitant authority to carry out the duties and functions of the Chief Executive Officer. The Associate Director is directly responsible for assigned operations and has direct line authority and leadership responsibility for administrative operation support services at the York Campus. S/He participates on a day to day basis in top level executive discussions, decisions, policy making and actions of all administrative functions and indirectly on all clinical matters impacting patient care. The Associate Director- York Campus manages, plans, organizes, develops, controls and implements VA's, VHA's, VISN 9's and TVHS's mission for taking care of the health care needs of veterans. S/He is accountable and responsible for administrative functions, strategic planning, budget requirements, resource acquisition/utilization, operational plans, policy development and community initiatives throughout the entire healthcare system. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30a - 4:00p. Telework: Ad Hoc Only for Emergency Preparedness; National/Regional Emergency; Situational Basis (Temporary); and OWCP Related. Requirements include time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for this position, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-14 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. You will be rated on the following competencies for this position: Vision, Partnering, Decisiveness, Influencing/Negotiating, External Awareness, Accountability. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
