Senior Electrical Tester

CLP Engineering (CLPE) is seeking a Senior Electrical Tester to join our Testing Team to perform mid/entry level inspections, testing, and maintaining electrical power equipment. The Senior Electrical Tester will inspect, test, and maintain High, Medium, and Low electrical power equipment. Testers will work with electrical equipment, such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers/GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and variance of switches both manual and motor operated.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create plans for testing apparatus.
  • Understand the theory behind and reason for testing with the ability to analyze results.
  • Instrument transformer tests such as CT's/PT's/CCVT's/MU's
  • Power transformer testing - Power Factor, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
  • Cable testing - VLF/TD/PD
  • Automatic transfer switch testing & troubleshooting
  • Low, Medium and High voltage switchgear, SF6 and vacuum circuit breaker testing
  • Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
  • Ability to perform complex troubleshooting
  • Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
  • Knowledge and understanding of practical application of electrical theory and hazards in order to perform the job requirements successfully and safely.
  • Interact positively with customers.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or related field, or previous military experience preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5+) years of relevant testing experience with:
    • Prescence of Voltage Verification
    • Contact Resistance
    • Insulation Resistance
    • Test Equipment Set Up
    • One-line Drawings
    • NETA or NICET Certification (III or IV) or similar desired
    • Must have good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel.
    • Experience with PowerDB a plus.
    • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
    • Prefer OSHA 10 or 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Available to work overtime hours and travel to the field for extended time periods.
    • Able to work well both independently and as a contributing team member.
  • Other Requirements:
    • You must be a US Citizen.
    • You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
    • A valid driver's license with a record that meets the CLP Fleet Policy is required.
    • Travel: Up to 75% travel.

  • Hourly payrate range: $45.00-$75.00 based on experience, plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
