Overview Title: Hardware Engineering Technician Job Type: Contract Contract Length: 6+ months Target Start Date: ASAP Work Location/Structure: Onsite in Foster City, CA - 5x days a week in office About the Opportunity: Our client, a leader in autonomous vehicles, is looking for a skilled Hardware Engineering Technician to join their team for a 6+ months engagement. This project involves supporting the Advanced Hardware Engineering department in their testing and development of sensors, compute, and power system Electronic Control Units (ECU). This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly. Responsibilities & Deliverables Cable harness and test setup assembly, modifications, testing, and documentation. Soldering & PCBA rework; wires (00 AWG to 35 AWG), SMD chips (0201+), and ICs (QFN, BGA). Test support including test preparation, execution, data collection, and documentation. Assisting in managing inventory of equipment and consumables; ordering parts and supplies. Maintaining a safe and organized lab environment and contributing to lab improvements. Required Skills & Experience 5+ years of experience in a similar role (implied from typical technician experience and the depth of skills listed). Deep expertise in cable harness and test setup assembly, modifications, testing, and documentation; soldering & PCBA rework (wires (00 AWG to 35 AWG), SMD chips (0201+), and ICs (QFN, BGA)); and the ability to move into different projects quickly. This isn\'t a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals. Experience assembling, inspecting, debugging, testing, & repairing PCBAs and cable harnesses; reading electrical schematics, circuit board files, BOMs, and engineering drawings; and experience with EE lab equipment (soldering irons, DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.) and hardware tools (crimpers, wire strippers, torque drivers, calipers, power drills, etc.).
