Job Description - Director of Operations for Kendrick Center for an Ethical Economy - College of Business and Economics (27013) Director of Operations for Kendrick Center for an Ethical Economy - College of Business and Economics - 27013 Description The John Chambers College of Business & Economics at West Virginia University (WVU) invites applications for a non-tenure track Service Assistant Professor position in the General Business department beginning in Fall 2025. The primary responsibility will be to serve as a senior leadership partner to the Executive Director, driving the center’s mission to promote prosperity and human flourishing in West Virginia through ethics and economics education, research, and outreach. This role combines strategic oversight, operational excellence, teaching, recruitment, data systems coordination, and academic leadership to ensure the center’s flagship programs—Kendrick Fellows Program, Kendrick Educators Program, and ECON 201 high school outreach initiative—achieve measurable impact and long-term sustainability. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Operations will oversee programs, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, fundraise, teach, recruit, and serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring alignment with the university’s mission and the center’s goals. Candidates are expected to embrace a teaching philosophy grounded in experiential learning initiatives. The candidate is expected to effectively teach courses (in both person and online formats) at the undergraduate and/or graduate level and work with colleagues to support and enhance our innovative and engaging program culture, and rapid growth. The expected teaching load for this position is six credits per year. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Advise the Executive Director, manage priorities, and represent the Center to internal and external stakeholders. Operations Oversight: Lead day-to-day operations, supervise staff, and coordinate with university services (IT, HR, Finance, Legal). Program Management: Oversee flagship programs (Kendrick Fellows, Educators Program, ECON 201), ensuring impact and scalability. Grant Development: Lead grant writing, manage compliance and reporting, and cultivate funder relationships. Research & Data: Support faculty research, oversee data systems, and ensure evaluation and compliance. Marketing & Outreach: Drive awareness through strategic communications and partnerships with schools and community organizations. Teaching & Training: Will be responsible for creating and teaching one or more course(s) related to the undergraduate mission of the Kendrick Center. Qualifications

Education:

Master’s degree in business, economics, philosophy, management, or a related field Experience: 7+ years in progressive leadership roles, including 2+ years in senior administration Background in strategic planning, program or grant management Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex projects Grants: Proven success securing and managing grants of $100K+ Knowledge of grant compliance, budgeting, and reporting Programs & Data: Experience designing and evaluating educational or outreach programs Familiarity with research methods and data systems Leadership & Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated team leadership and stakeholder engagement Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tools Ability to produce polished reports and presentations Preferred Qualifications: Certification in grant writing (GPC) or project management (PMP) Experience publishing research or presenting at academic conferences Established connections with funders, schools, or community organizations West Virginia University is a place of purpose and community.
